How to choose optics lab equipment

• Ray boxes: the Ray Box has a ventilated metal lamp house with a 12 V lamp and single and triple slits; the Ray Box Premium uses a 12 V 24 W bulb with heat-resistant plastic slit and blanking plates; the Ray Box Sliding has a sliding lamp holder, 4 mm plug leads and takes 50 mm wide accessories.
• Spectra: the Tube Spectrometer (150 x 28 mm tube, 15 x 0.5 mm slit, 140 lines/mm grating) introduces spectrometry; the Spectral Tubes show line and band spectra from noble and diatomic gases.
• Polarisation: the Polarimeter passes monochromatic light through a polariser and a sample tube, and the angle of rotation is read on its integral scale; it needs a standard DC power supply. The Polaroid Filters Mounted are sandwiched between glass in 35 mm slide frames.
• Colour: the Multicoloured LED bulb mixes red, green and blue LEDs in a frosted globe for colour mixing and coloured-light experiments.

How much sample does the Refractometer need?
Only 2 or 3 drops of solution. It has a single focus adjustment, automatic temperature compensation from 10 to 30 °C and comes with a case, calibration screwdriver, plastic pipette and calibration solution.

What lamp does the Ray Box Sliding use?
A 12 V 21 W lamp in a sliding holder, with captive flying leads and 4 mm plugs. It comes with single, double, wide and triple slit plates.
